Riccardo Reitano graduated in Physics in 1986 and his PHD in 1991. After a period as post-Doctoral Fellow at the Division of Applied Sciences of the Harvard University, he was appointed as Researcher in 1996 and then Asoscite Professor in 2007 at the University of Catania. He teaches Spectroscopy (course in Physics), Biomolecular Spectroscopy (course in Sanitary and Cellular-Molecular Biology)and Physics (cours in Pharmaceutical Chemestry and Technology).

In 2018 he co-founded and direct the multidisciplinary research center "L'ora del mare".

Over the years, the reasearch interests has been focused on the properties and modification of materials, interaction of high power laser pulses with materials, spectroscopic techniques. The results has been published mainly on international journals and presented at international conferences.
