The Institute for Microelectronics and Microsystems (IMM) is an Institute of Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR), the largest public research institution in Italy, formed by 7 Units. IMM is worldwide recognized as a centre of excellence for basic and applied research on advanced nanotechnology. The main skills concern the synthesis, processing and characterization of different materials for several applications in the field of microelectronics and microsystems.

The Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) performs scientific research, both basic and applied, directed towards technological development and the promotion of excellence. In May 2020, the IIT and the DFA have undersigned a collaboration agreement aiming at developing and coordinating joint research programs, favoring the mobility of researchers, and sharing common facilities also for graduate students, in several research fields, including nanoscale imaging, molecular processes in biological systems (e.g. tumors), advanced spectroscopy.
