Giacometta MINEO
Giacometta Mineo is a researcher (RTDA) in Condensed Matter Physics at the Department of Physics and Astronomy “Ettore Majorana” of the University of Catania since July 2023. She obtained her Ph.D. in Materials Science and Nanotechnology from the University of Catania in 2022 and subsequently worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the same department.
Her current research focuses on the fabrication and investigation of defects in GaN capable of emitting coherent photons. These specific systems can be employed as quantum sensors for quantities such as electromagnetic fields and for the study of 1/f noise.
She has published numerous scientific papers on nanostructured materials for energy storage (supercapacitors and pseudocapacitors), water splitting (clean hydrogen production), and gas sensing.
GIACOMETTA MINEO is a researcher (RTDA) in Condensed Matter Physics at the Department of Physics and Astronomy “Ettore Majorana” of the University of Catania since July 2023.
Her research activity is mainly experimental, focused on the synthesis and characterization of semiconductor nanostructures for Energy, Sensing, and Quantum Technologies (green hydrogen, energy storage, chemoresistive sensing, and quantum sensing). Since 2020, Giacometta has authored about 18 scientific publications, with 251 citations and an H-index of 9 (Scopus, November 2025).
