Enrico Martello

Hi everyone, my name is Enrico Martello. I took part in my Erasmus Traineeship at the end of my MSc in Physics (curriculum: Condensed Matter Physics) from March to September 2018.

During the last semester of my MSc, I wanted to try a new experience because since I was born and raised in Catania, I had always been lucky enough not to have to leave my family’s nest.

My Erasmus Traineeship at the Ludwig-Maximilians Universität in Munich, Germany, was the chance I was looking for: first time away from home, living on my own, learning to cope with… what? well, I did not know it yet!

Even though I was scared at first, it took me no time to get acquainted with this new life: I got to get acquainted with people from all around the world, I have worked and studied in a foreign language (no matter how bad you are at any language: there will always be someone who is worse than you at that!) and all of this changed my life. It changed me so deeply, that I tend to divide my lifetime into b.E. and a.E. — amazing!

But Erasmus is not only the fun part (exactly, you can manage to get some work done!): I worked at my MSc thesis, whose focus was on a diagrammatic technique to solve classical link models called Grassmannization, with professor L. Pollet, and graduated 2 months after I returned home.
