Learning Objectives

Aim of this course is to provide knowledge on the basic principles of radiation-matter interaction, photon manipulation and guiding, lasers, photon detectors and solar cells.

Absorbance, spontaneous emission and stimulated emission - Optical amplifiers – atomic lasers – p-n junction - LEDs - semiconductor lasers – photon detectors – solar cells – optical waveguides – optical fibers - optical modulators – photonic crystals - nanocavities
