Structure formation in coupled dark energy models by Francesco Pace (University of Manchester)

Description
Dark matter and dark energy are usually assumed to be independent, coupling only gravitationally. An extension to this picture is to model dark energy as a scalar field coupled directly to cold dark matter. This coupling leads to new physical effects, such as a fifth-force and a time-dependent dark matter particle mass. In this talk I will give a broad overview of how structures form in the Universe and I will concentrate in particular on the class of couple dark energy models. I will present effects of coupling with the help of numerical N-body simulations on some observables, in particular the matter power spectrum and weak gravitational lensing.
