Silvia SCALISI

Since February 2024, I have been a fixed-term researcher (RTD-A) in the academic discipline PHYS-06/A at the Department of Physics and Astronomy (DFA) of the University of Catania. I conduct my research within the Biophysics group, mainly focusing on the development and application of advanced super-resolution optical microscopy methods and quantitative approaches to image analysis.

After obtaining my Master’s degree in Biomolecular Chemistry from the University of Catania, I was awarded a PhD fellowship from the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Genoa and carried out my research within the Nanoscopy & NIC@IIT group. During my PhD, I mainly focused on the development and application of single-molecule optical nanoscopy techniques. In 2020, I received my PhD in Physics from the University of Genoa.

I subsequently held two postdoctoral research positions: the first, lasting two years, at the Department of Cellular, Computational and Integrative Biology (CIBIO) of the University of Trento, within the Chromatin Biology and Epigenetics group; the second as a research fellow within the Biophysics group at the DFA of the University of Catania, led by Prof. Lanzanò, where I later took up my current position as a researcher.
