Microelectronics for Science - A self-triggered and digitizing ASIC for micro-pattern detectors

Description
Microelectronics, in the form of Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs), has enabled a new class of radiation detectors to be constructed. Progress in this area will be discussed, and examples of front-end ASICs developed at Brookhaven National Laboratory will be presented. Details will be given on the most recent development, a 64-channel self-triggered and digitizing front-end ASIC for micropattern detectors to be used in the ATLAS new small wheel muon upgrade.
