International mobility


The office for international mobility   of the University of Catania manages the main European programs and extra-European mobility of students, recent graduates, faculty and staff for purposes of study, training, teaching and education towards foreign universities, companies and other international structures. In particular under the Erasmus + program,  the University of Catania by means of  the Erasmus action Studio,  allow students to spend a period in foreign universities participating in the program for purposes of study or  thesis preparation. The office takes care  and also coordinates the main  programs that allow students, undergraduates and recent graduates to carry out a period of stage and traineeship  in companies and institutions abroad.  The office takes care also of  foreign incoming students by providing them with information support and assistance (http://www.unict.it/en/international-mobility)

An International Teaching Unit of the Department, in collaboration with the International Mobility  Office (IMO), manages the flow of incoming and outgoing students and precisely:

  • it collaborates with the IMO in the selection and assignment of the respective mobility grants procedures;
  • It provides operational support to incoming and outgoing students for  administrative procedures;
  • in agreement with the President of the Master degree course and the Delegate to the internationalization of the Department, follows the approval process of curricula and validation of the respective credits of the subjects that students get at host universities abroad;
  • it handles relations with foreign universities in the administrative management of the submitted documentation.

Inside the  Department of  Physics and Astronomy, there is a delegate professor  for  Internationalization,  who is in charge of the following activities:

  •  in agreement with the Coordinator of the Master Degree in Physics, he/she helps students in the choice of the destination site and the teachings  to be included in the curriculum that they intend to follow abroad (after a comparison of the programs offered by the University of destination and those in force in their course of study);
  • he/she signs the formal Learning or Training Agreement;
  • he/she collaborates with the international teaching unit for the management of the  administrative procedures (approval and / or modification of curricula by the Council of the Master Degree Course);
  • he/she takes care of  the  bilateral agreements of the Department in collaboration with the professors  responsible for them and the offices in charge.
