The main research activities are focused on the bioinformatic analysis of data derived from the high-throughput amplicon sequencing and the shotgun metagenomics sequencing. In particular, great attention is devoted to the microbial communities identification of the root environment in plants affected by plant pathogens or subjected to abiotic stresses (e.g. water or salinity deficit). Microbial interactions through the application of the network analysis are also a research topic of particular interest to explore the changes of the microbial structure and identify the so-called keystone taxa.
