Summer Schools

International Lipari School on Complex Systems

This summer school will provide opportunities to collect experience with modern data analysis, in particular Big Data analytics related to complex systems. This includes subjects such as how to mine data in the Internet and data of Social Media. The main and special guest lectures will address the scope focusing on algorithms, computational models and practical results on this field.

Ground and space-based instruments for future research in Solar-Terrestrial physics

The International School of Space Science of the Consorzio Interuniversitario per la Fisica Spaziale organizes a Course on “Ground and space-based instruments for future research in Solar-Terrestrial physics”, to be held in L’Aquila, Italy, June 6-10, 2016, at the Gran Sasso Science Institute and directed by F. Berrilli, S. Jefferies, C. Scotto.

The course is designed for PhD students and young post-doctoral researchers. The school will offer an interactive, hands-on approach to the computational and experimental techniques that will be applied in the next generation of ground- and space-based instruments for solar-terrestrial physics related research. In particular, a mix of experienced scientists and engineers will provide an integrated overview of the experimental techniques that are being applied in the observation and forecasting of Solar Activity, Space Weather, and the conditions in the Earth’s magnetosphere and ionosphere: all of which are important components of Space Situational Awareness.

Applications are due before March 27th 2016 through the School website

NEON Summer School

The 2016 NEON observing school will take place in Greece in the period  June 19th - July 2d, 2016
The school will focus on practical observations at the telescope, followed by data reduction and presentation of the scientific results.
Here you can find all the necessary information http://www.iap.fr/opticon/neon_schools/2016/index.html like the preliminary program  (http://www.iap.fr/opticon/neon_schools/2016/Program2016.html.)
The Registration (http://www.iap.fr/opticon/neon_schools/2016/registration/form.htm) will close on April 1st. The final selection will be made by early May.
The school is open to PhD students in Astrophysics, who need to gain observing experience. Last year's Master students, or early PostDocs can also be considered.
All the local costs will be covered by Opticon. A contribution to travel costs can also be considered, on a case-by-case basis (please explain on the registration form)
You can find more details on the Neon schools and their program by looking at the Past NEON schools.
